About us

YWAM Solomon Islands is a local Christian Missions organization that seek to empower young people to know their purpose in life and equip them to prosper in all areas of life.

International

YWAM Solomon Islands is part of the international missions movement Youth With A Mission (YWAM) that is present in over 180 countries around the world. We engage teachers and people from all over the world as part of our ministries.

Local

YWAM Solomon Islands was established in 1995 and have been engaged in equipping youth ever since. As per Q3 2022 we have 15 local staff, 4 international staff and preparing to recieve students from Solomon Islands in Q1 2023. We are based in Burns Creek, outside Honiara.

Decentralized

YWAM Solomon Islands is an independent organization that is responsible for its own finances, staff and resources. As part of the international organization of YWAM we are united through the same vision, core beliefs, foundational values and relationships.

YWAM Solomons aims to be self-sustainable as a model for other communities

Food

Our garden provides food for the staff throughout the year. We plant cassava, sweet potatoes, bananas, beans and more. We also have our own piggery and chickens.

Water

On our property we have multiple wells, and one that we feed to our water tower through a solar pump.

Power

Our solar system has become so developed that we now can provide enough solar to charge an electric car! And so, we have imported the first electric car to the Solomon Islands.

Gas

On base we have built a biogas system that creates cooking gas from the waste of our pigs and from garden waste. This gas can also power a generator if needed.

Our focus areas

Training

We want to equip more Solomon Islanders with relevant skills to help them follow their calling.

We wish to offer a broader variety of UofN schools and seminars in the course of the next three years.

Mercy Ministry

As a young development nation, Solomon Islands is receiving a lot of outside aid. As a local ministry, we want to give generosly and offer help where we can.

Through the medical clinic and community development, we want to show God's love to everyone we meet.

Evangelism

As a Christian nation, we want to see more missionaries sent out from the Solomon Islands to unreached people groups.

Within the next three years we want to send Solomon Islaners as missionaries to unreached people groups.
